TSA were appointed by the Helmsley Group to obtain planning approval for the redevelopment of the Old Clifton Park Hospital site in York. Many of the existing buildings were Grade 2 listed.
Our brief was to obtain a detailed planning approval to maximise office accommodation whilst providing flexible space within a phased development.
Our design approach was to follow where possible the footprint of the old hospital as to minimise the affects on the surrounding landscaped site.
The planning procedure was lengthy due to the justification as to why existing hospital listed buildings had to be demolished and the sensitivity of the site as it lies within the heart of York’s conversation area. Today it is one of the largest office development York.
